Sketched Flowers Birthday Card

 

For this birthday card, I used the Sketched Flowers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. An oldie but a goodie! I stamped the images I wanted to use onto Bristol smooth cardstock with Versafine onyx black ink and then clear heat embossed. 

This is my entry in The Flower Challenge, "use your favourite flower".

I first put a light wash of Zig real brush markers over the flowers and allowed to dry. Then applied the colour direct from the marker to where I wanted the colour concentrated and spread it with a paint brush and water. Colours used were yellow and light pink. I also put a light wash of blue over the pink flowers to tone down the pink. Because I was mounting the image on black, I used a black sharpie to colour the spaces between the flowers.

I didn't colour the leaves because I knew I wouldn't be using them. 

Using Prismacolor pencils, I added more depth. Colours used were pink, canary yellow and spanish orange. Images were then fussy cut.

After deciding on placement of the flowers on the black panel, I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment and adhered the panel to my cardbase. I then adhered the flowers. I love how the pale flowers pop off the black!

I added some white dots with a white jell pen and then went slightly overboard with Nuvo drops in dandelion yellow and carnation pink.

Finding My Mojo

 I've been struggling with my mojo recently. Creative juices seem to have dried up. So, I made some alcohol ink backgrounds to see if inspiration would strike. Some of the alcohol inks are shimmery so there's lots of sparkle! I also stamped and heat embossed some images onto vellum and looked through my stash to see what would work with the backgrounds. Thankfully, inspiration did strike!

I chose Picket Fence Studios Charlotte the Chameleon for the green panel so stamped and gold heat embossed her. I then cut the panel down and matted it on black and then green. The front sentiment is from the same stampset. Added a googly eye to finish.

Card 2 is one of the pink backgrounds. I've never stencilled over alcohol ink before so I tried that and love how it looks. I'll definitely do that again. I just stencilled a few areas and not the whole panel. It's a little difficult to see in the photos.  The flower is Paper Rose Studio sketchy rose stampset. I white heat embossed the largest flower onto vellum, fussy cut and adhered using tiny drops of glue on the thickest lines. The sentiment is simon says stamp. Finished with clear jewels.

Card 3 is the other pink background. Again I've used paper rose sketchy rose set. This flower is stamped in black and clear heat embossed. I've coloured it using Zig real color brush markers in pink and violet. The sentiment is from Paper Rose as well. Finished with clear jewels.

Delicate Flowers

 

This card uses Simon says stamp delicate flowers stamp set and heat and dry embossing. I'm entering it in The Flower Challenge 52, heat or dry embossing.

Images were stamped on bristol smooth cardstock with versamark ink and gold heat embossed. I coloured them using Zig real colour brush markers and added some colour pencil over that.

Zig colours used were yellow, bright yellow, light green and deep green. I love how the gold heat embossing looks with these colours.

Using an embossing folder from sizzix, I embossed a white panel and then adhered this to a yellow panel and then a cardbase. 

Images were fussy cut and adhered. the main floral image is on foam tape and everything else is adhered onto the embossed panel.

Sketchy Roses Thank You Card

I've used the Paper Rose Studio Sketchy Roses card kit for this thank you card.
I stamped the flowers and buds onto Canson XL watercolour paper and gold heat embossed them. The flower and buds were coloured using distress inks. Colours were mustard seed first and then fossilized amber at the base of the petals and where shadows would be. I then put abandoned coral over the fossilized  amber.
The leaves are mowed lawn wash, drop in pine needles while wet, allow to dry and then go over with mowed lawn again.
I thought the images needed more dimension, so added some shading with Prismacolor pencils. I used orange on the petals because I don't have a coral pencil but it still worked. I used dark green and grass green for the petals. Images were then fussy cut.
The panel is is more Canson watercolour paper and I ink smooshed with mustard seed and fossilized amber distress inks. When this was completely dry, I spattered it with a mixture of mowed lawn and pine needles. This gave a slight green speckle in the background.

I cut the panel using MFT In and Out diagonal rectangle die and sponged around the outside with fossilized amber.
I arranged the flowers on the panel and determined where to put the sentiment. I used the SimonSaysStamp thanks die and cut it directly from the panel.
I adhered the panel to my cardbase, put the diecut onto foam and then adhered it back into place. I had planned to sponge fossilized amber around the die cut before I adhered it, but I forgot, so I used glossy accents over it instead.
I attached the buds and extra leaves to the flower and then put it all on foam tape and adhered to the card. I thought it needed one more leaf so I coloured another one and adhered it directly to the card.
I added sparkle to the flowers and thought that was enough.

Daisy Days Birthday Card

These beautiful daisies are from paper rose studio daisy days stamp set. I've coloured them using zig real brush markers. Colours used were light and dark yellow for the flowers, light and dark green for the leaves and brown flower centres.

Paper rose yellow ink was lightly blended around 3 edges of the card base. I didn't bring the ink all the way to the bottom and protected the crease of the card with masking paper. 

I arranged all the elements on the card to determine where to position the sentiment. 

The sentiment is from the sketched flowers set from Simon says stamp. I thought black would be too stark so I stamped the sentiment multiple times using the paper rose yellow. In hindsight, I wish it was a little darker but still like the way it looks. 

I adhered the black and white paper first. Then a thin strip of yellow cardstock below that. I adhered the two outer flowers next, but only put glue on the flower centres so I could slip the leaves behind the petals. the middle flower is on foam tape. I then adhered the leaves and put glossy accents on the flower centres. Finished with a few Nuvo drops in morning dew.

Pink Thank you Card

This simple, yet beautiful thank you card was very easy to make using alcohol inks and gold heat embossing. 

I have not used yupo paper, but card stock that was being thrown out by a printing company. It's about 110lb and very shiney on one side. I used the shiney side. The ink doesn't move as well as it does on yupo, but still gives a nice effect and doesn't melt when heat embossed.

Colours I used were mainly flamingo with a little bit of sunshine yellow.

I used gold foil on the tacky bits which left some blue behind from a previous use but I wasn't worried about that.

I gold heat embossed the beautiful sketched flowers stamp from Simon Says Stamp which made the panel come alive. Then, using the thanks die, also from Simon, I cut gold card stock which was stacked on two layers of white.
